A traditional Salford pub was to be transformed into the communal space for a new way of living: 380 stylish apartments complete with gym, launderette, shared garden, cinema and café. We were tasked with naming this exciting development, creating its visual identity, and telling the story of its innovative approach to building a real, lasting community.
The name we came up with – Local – stays true to the development’s roots and reflects the façade of the old Blackfriars pub, which has been left intact to striking effect. Continuing the theme we designed beer-bottle labels with the Local logo, handing out the branded drinks at launch events and whetting the appetites of potential investors. A key element of our colour palette – which featured across the full suite of communications – was drawn from the gold in the original Black Friar pub’s signage.
